MAX ZEKE
This picture was taken on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at around 5:30 in the evening and during a training session. These litter brothers are almost two years old (3/10) and it seems that Zeke has grown a bit larger than Max. We ran them hard and their faces show how tired and winded they were.
Max is a cheater and takes off before we launch a rubber dummy like the ones laying on the lower right corner of the picture. He takes off about fifty yards, turns around towards us and waits to see where the dummy is going to land. Right after launching the dummy, Zeke takes off like a bat out of hell and tries to get to the dummy before the cheater does. Once one of them takes hold of and claims the launched dummy, they both make their way back to us. As they're eagerly approaching, we launch an additional dummy so the other dog can get a chance to spot, track, and retrieve one of his own. Of course, they’re both greedy and both take off after the second launch (one with the first dummy in it’s mouth). All the time spent training Max and Zeke has really paid off when dove season comes around. They've experienced two seasons already and were actually retrieving for the first time at the young age of 6 mos. They work for us retrieving our birds and all the while these guys think of it as a game and just want more and more "fun". Too bad we can't hit as many as these guys would like to retrieve! Max and Zeke have to actually warn us of incoming birds cause all the so-called-hunters are too busy talking. :-) These guys are hilarious and work well with one another.
