Dean, Division of Business, Math, Science & Technology

As South Texas Community College's Division Dean of Business, Math & Sciences, Mr. Reyna's responsibilities include providing leadership and supervision for all programs in the Division. Mr. Reyna provides leadership to a division that excels in many areas including new program development, links with business, and helping to chart the future of STCC. His drive to improve educational opportunities for all comes from his strong commitment to the Rio Grande Valley where he was born and raised.

BACKGROUND

Mr. Mario Reyna joined South Texas Community College as Dean of the Division of Business in September of 1996. Prior to coming to STCC, Mr. Reyna was in the United States Air Force for 20 years before retiring. During that time, he held positions as an Air Force Recruiter, Budget Officer, Chief of Financial Analysis, Headquarters Financial Management Officer, and in Logistics. His assignments took him all over the United States and Europe with some travel in Turkey and Japan. Mr. Reyna's Air Force career included five years with the Air Force Education and Training Command whose training courses received accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Mr. Reyna holds an A.A.S. in Materials Management from the Air Force Community College, a B.S. in Business Management from University of La Verne in La Verne, California (Vandenberg AFB) and an M.A. in Public Administration from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri (Lackland AFB) with additional hours in Business Finance and Accounting.

Past duties included serving as Mid-Valley Campus Coordinator responsible for representing the College in the community and with other educational institutions. This also involved promoting workforce development activities, making written recommendations for introduction of new programs, and program expansion at the campus.
